Fear of an Obama Planet

December 12th, 2006 No comments

Looks like the righty punditocracy is already afraid enough of Obama to start pulling the stupidest shit imaginable out of their asses in order to Gore-ize his potential candidacy. (if you don’t want to click, they’re comparing Obama’s sartorial style to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Because they’re linked, you see. Plus, “Obama” sounds like “Osama” … which is totally fun-nay! Hee! Kewl kids rule!

Hmm… Bush likes to parade around in military-ish uniforms. Hey, you know who else had a penchant for wearing military uniforms they had no right wearing? Herman Goering!

Bush Herman Goering

At least one of these two also liked drugs (cocaine and/or morphine). At least one of these two also liked getting sodomized while wearing a feather boa and fishnet stockings. I’ll let you figure out which.

Book, TV show cancelled

News Corp., the parent company of book publisher HarperCollins and the FOX network, has canceled publication of the O.J. Simpson book and television special “If I Did It.”

“I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project,” said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. “We are sorry for any pain that this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.”

In the book, the one-time football superstar tells how he would have killed his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman if, in fact, he had done it.

A dozen FOX affiliates had already said they would not air the two-part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the book’s publication.

One station manager who had said he wasn’t airing the special said he was concerned that whether or not Simpson was guilty, he’d still be profiting from murders.

It’s still not going to stop me from running my picture again, though.

There is no God

November 17th, 2006 No comments

As an update to a previous post, it is now conclusively proven that there is no God.

Republicans Friday chose Rep. John Boehner as minority leader, succeeding Speaker Dennis Hastert in the top GOP leadership post for the Democratic-controlled House that convenes in January.

Laura Ingraham’s God has forsaken her. What will Laura do now?

I’ll take that bet

November 16th, 2006 No comments

If Michael “I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order” Pence is not the next House minority leader, then there is no God.

After hosting Pence on her conservative talk show Tuesday, Laura Ingraham remarked: “If there is a God in heaven, he will be the next House minority leader.”

Following Ingraham’s logic,1 if Pence is not the next House minority leader then there is no God in heaven. When it doesn’t happen, who are you going to worship then?

Care to double down, Laura?

1. Yes, yes. If A then B does not necessarily imply that not A equals not B. Given Ingraham’s construction it seems pretty clear to me that she is establishing that A (God) implies B (Pence as minority leader). In order for this to be true, the contrapositive (not B then not A) has to apply as well, so not B (Pence not minority leader) has to be not A (no God) for the construction to hold.

OJ Simpson edition, volume 2.

In an update to a previous post, OJ is now doing the talk show circuit to promote his “hypothetical” book. Hmm… this sounds… familiar… Oh yes! I remember!1

Simpson Instinct

You know, you have to admire the human species. Every time I think we’ve hit a new floor in taste, someone goes way, way below it. It’s awesome when that person is me.

John Correli: Did you kill Mr Boz, Miss Tramell?
Catherine: I’d have to be pretty stupid to write a book about killing and then kill him the way I described in my book. I’d be announcing myself as the killer. I’m not stupid.

White House war pigs use props of the twin towers in a veteran’s day message to the troops:

After months of studied ambiguity, President Bush finally admitted that Iraq had “nothing” to do with the attack on the World Trade Center. The Defense Department, however, appears determined to perpetuate the myth.

Today, the administration released veterans day messages from troops in Iraq. These “taped messages from the U.S. Defense Department” featured a replica of the twin towers in the background.

Who exactly are they trying to fool? Whom do they think they are fooling? They might as well have hung a “Mission Accomplished” banner on the set as well.

Timmah! edition

The 2006 election was defined by a) a repudiation of the war in Iraq and the current Iraq strategy, and b) widespread national victories for Democratic House, Senate, and gubernatorial candidates.

This week’s guests on MTP:
Joe Lieberman: pro war, “Independent”
John McCain: pro war, GOP

Welcome to the new media order, same as the old.

Warning Signs

November 4th, 2006 No comments

I know a lot people are apparently quite happy about the editorials that are about to appear in the [Military Branch] Times, but I ‘m not one of those.

An editorial set to appear on Monday — election eve — in the four leading newspapers for the military calls for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

The papers are the Army Times, Air Force Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times. They are published by the Military Times Media Group, a subsidiary of Gannett Co., Inc. President Bush said this week that he wanted Rumsfeld to serve out the next two years.

See, when I read this, I start thinking “military coup d’etat.” According to billmon, the [Branch] Times don’t do anything without the approval of the generals. And it seems to me that the Joint Chiefs (and even lower on the rung) are getting a taste for meddling in domestic politics. This is not a good sign for our democracy.

Mark Halperin. Behold as this paragon of journalistic integrity abases himself to C-level conservative radioblogger/worst law school professor in the world, Hugh Hewitt.

For those that don’t know, Helperin ABC New’s political director and is the responsible for the widely-read kewl kids news factory The Note. Why people read it before, I don’t know. Why they would read it after seeing what a craven, snivveling, subhuman sychophant Helperin is I really don’t know.

Unless they’re conservative, in which case The Note is teh b0mb!!!1!111!

Dear Hugh,

I really enjoyed our radio talk and I appreciated the opportunity to appear with someone I respect so much.

I have gotten a lot of positive feedback, mostly from conservatives, including this reaction on Powerlineblog.com.

But, as I have said to you privately, I am beginning to think you are intellectually dishonest on a few points. It seems strange that someone who seems to be trying to bring truth to people would do such a thing, but I can’t really explain your behavior any other way. As I said on the show, you and I agree on almost everything we discussed. On most of the points of disagreement, I respect your position and accept our disagreement. . . .

As for your repeated insistence that you could reach no other conclusion but one that says that I am “very liberal,” I’m sure if you think it over, you will reconsider. You went to a liberal school and you appear to not be liberal. And I am sure you have heard of people having different political views than their parents.

Again, I respect much about you, but I am mystified by your determination to lump me in with others. Acknowledging the liberal bias that exists in the Old Media — as John Harris and I do in The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008 doesn’t necessarily prove that I am not liberal, but I would think you would be open to giving me the benefit of the doubt, when you have no actual evidence to the contrary.

Hewitt may be a C-level echospheritarian/worst law professor in the world, but he sure knows the bully routine by heart. This was Helprin’s second message, by the way, and Hewitt has made Halperin his bitch not once, not twice, but three times now. You know, if I thought Halperin was worthy of anything more than scorn and a mild disinterest, I might feel sorry for the wormy little crybaby.

So, submissives take note (or bottoms, as we like to call you little bitches): this is how a proper sub behaves! Now lick my boot. Harder! Faster! You missed a spot, you naughty little thing. Have a nipple clamp. Now on your knees and beg for my forgiveness!

Smoke and mirrors

November 1st, 2006 No comments

There’s a phony “controversy” being brewed up by the righties with an able assist from the media, concerning a misspoken joke by Sen. Kerry and the resulting purposeful twisting and attacking the twist strawman move by the right. The media is pushing this so hard that even Ms. Grumpy was aware of it from her deep groundhog lair of studying. (I heard it mentioned on NPR twice in my commute last night and three times this morning. I can just imagine what Faux and the wingnutosphere is doing. All for a single misstatement by a senator who is not even running for reelection; a misstatement that, even when a blown joke, is just a truism – the wealthy and well educated form only a tiny fraction of the military).

In any event, this issue is:
a) irrelevant;
b) wasn’t defamatory; and
c) is an attempt to distract people from Iraq, Katrina, Iraq, Foley, Iraq, Delay, Iraq, Cunningham, Iraq, Abramoff, Iraq, civil liberties, Iraq, warrantless wiretapping, Iraq, domestic spying, Iraq and Iraq

We should also note how batshit crazy John McCain, who has been silent on Cheney’s waterboarding “no-brainer” comment and the US military abandoning a soldier and obeying the commands of a foreign leader, is oh-so-vocal about this nonissue.

Of course, Kerry got a golden opportunity to call the Busheviks cowards and reemphasize Iraq during this attack, which he did use. It’s not stopping the handwringing by a bunch of supposedly media-savvy center-lefties (yeah, I’m looking at you, Huffington) of course, but Kerry did his part. If the Dems had any sort of influence on the media or a bold approach, this faux dustup could be totally turned against the GOP and their illegal, criminal, stupid invasion of Iraq.

Air America advertiser blacklist

An internal ABC Radio Networks memo obtained by Media Matters for America, originally from a listener to The Peter B. Collins Show, indicates that nearly 100 ABC advertisers insist that their commercials be blacked out on Air America Radio affiliates. According to the memo, the adverstisers insist that “NONE of their commercials air during AIR AMERICA programming.” Among the advertisers listed are Bank of America, Exxon Mobil, Federal Express, General Electric, McDonald’s, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, and the U.S. Navy.

Reuters hearts Lieberman edition

Energized by a big poll lead over his anti-war rival [note: pigeonhole and not naming Lamont], Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman punched the air with his fist as he arrived at a campaign rally at a Cajun diner to cheers of “Let’s go Joe.”

Just over a week before the Nov. 7 election, the 2000 vice presidential nominee, who lost the Democratic primary because of his support for the Iraq war, appears headed for a fourth term on the strength of 18 years in the Senate and stances on issues such as health care [such as that rape victims can easily go to another hospital if they are denied emergency contraception. Also, his wife lobbies for pharmaceutical companies - Grumpy].

“We feel optimistic,” Lieberman, running as an independent, told supporters as he campaigned last week with Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana at the Rajun Cajun diner.

Although he counts on support from Republicans to win, Lieberman insists he remains a loyal Democrat [except for that part about rejecting the will of the party after losing the Democratic primary and running on his Lieberman for Lieberman ticket, with support of Rove and the NRCC - Grumpy] and will side with the party during Senate leadership votes.

But if he prevails over wealthy Democratic challenger Ned Lamont next week [Lieberman is also wealthy and has received far more donations from the top 1-percenters - Grumpy], his pro-war stance could clash with Democratic efforts to capitalize on public dissatisfaction with Iraq before the 2008 presidential election.

Biased, much?

Shut Up and Sing

October 27th, 2006 No comments

Looks like an interesting documentary re: the Dixie Chicks and the insanity fueled by the nutters when Natalie Maines said they were ashamed Bush was from Texas… which led to boycotts, protests, death threats, and “independent” radio stations refusing to play their songs.

Shut up and sing

The reaction from the jingoist nutballs was so incendiary, so ridiculous, so disproportionate to the innocuous comment by Maines, that it deserves a nice, long, objective look on the hows and the whys. I hope this documentary does that.

Note: NBC and CW Television (= UPN & WB) are refusing to air ads for the documentary. This after CNN and NPR refused to carry ads for Death of a President (the fake documentary about the assassination of W). Censorship, anyone? (and I’m being serious here, not in the fake “censorship”! way people who don’t understand censorship cry). Oh, and if you really want to get mad at the censorship in our country, observe how nearly every instance of refusal to carry ads by major media networks is for the benefit of the Bushevik administration.

Fascism and eliminationist rhetoric

O’Reilly edition

O’Reilly said that he knew “for a fact that President Bush doesn’t know what’s going on in the Internet.” O’Reilly then said, “I have to say President Bush has a much healthier attitude toward this than I do. Because if I can get away with it, boy, I’d go in with a hand grenade.”

Ignoring that Falafel boy’s inserted loofah would tear a hole in his pants upon exit before he ever showed a spark of courage… who, exactly, are you going to be grenading, Bill? Also, if ignorance equals mental health, then W is the most well adjusted person in the history of ever.
