Rule of Rose. The setting and art remind me a lot of Sanitarium (one of the top adventure games ever). Too bad it’s only available on a console. Still… I’m tempted.
Reviews for Rule of Rose don’t look so hot, so… not as tempted as I might otherwise be.
Too busy with second life
Now, on the not-so-mushy side, our performance and experience right now for new users is not good! We’ve been able to handle 10,000 new residents or more every day (which is a mind-altering 10x increase since April of this year), but right now the media coverage we are getting is taking us to unreal levels of new users – we will probably sign up more than 50,000 new people today. The new user system is fairly scalable, but it will take us a few days at least to adapt to this level of load. As a result we’ve got slow website performance, way too many people on the orientation islands, and an overloaded set of new user landing points in the main grid.
Because it’s brainless, mechanical tedium more closely analogous to word searches than any other particular diversion. No thought required, just pattern matching and a bit of concentration. Just ask instructables, they’ve got your 100% always-right algorithm there and ready for you. Can’t you just feel the excitement?
I’d take a crossword puzzle about 300 times before I’d take a sudoku. Hell, I’d take one of those bridge hand description puzzles before I’d pick a sudoku.
